When I made the decision back in 2006 to make this movie I knew what I wanted to deliver to all the people that followed Saltomortalez and 2Vault. In terms of quality and action I wanted Vault to be the best. I guess big dreams take their own time to become reality.
A big turning point came in 2007 when Mattias Karlsson came to see one of my short films at the Göteborgs Film Festival. A short while after I asked Mattias if a project like this could interest him in some way. I was sure at that point he would say no because, from a traditional film standpoint, this project was high risk. But to my surprise Mattias loved it and for the first time I had someone that shared my passion and love for the project.
Mattias brought new skills to the table, as a film producer he has the knowledge and connections to make Vault a reality.
Our work started off with discussing the outlines for the movie. We agreed on the basic character outline, which more or less still stands today. A treatment was written (a short story version of the film narrative) and Mattias took this to a
Media Development program, Engage. The feedback on Vault from the other participants on Engage was positive, they liked what we were doing but they couldn’t fully visualise it.
We decided then to make a Vault Pilot, a short film clip that showcases what we want to do. A lot of time and energy went into the Pilot to make sure it conveyed the visual style of Vault as clearly as possible. We think it also shows some of the amazing possibilities that lie within the Vault story. We had great pleasure recently in being able to show the Pilot to industry insiders for the first time. And some time soon the Pilot will be on-line on the web page and you can let us know what you think about it.
